What is the minimum age required to enrol at MDS?

We recommend a minimum age of 5 years old and above for the following reasons based on our past experiences:

• Students must be able to distinguish between their left and right easily.
• Students must reach a certain size to operate the bass drum pedal.
• Students must understand basic math such as counting to four or playing two equal eighth notes at the speed of one quarter note.
• Students must be able to sit and focus for the entire 30-minute lesson without the presence of a parent.
