Jenny Chui Head of Human Resources

Jenny leads My Drum School’s people function, and is responsible for attracting, developing, engaging, retaining, and delighting our talent. As one of MDS’s pioneer educators, Jenny Chui has helped shaped the faculty and growth of our Drum Programme since 2009. Jenny develops and implements strategies which aim to ensure the school has the right people, well positioned, to achieve the organisation’s business ambitions.

Pioneering the first batch of educators, she worked together with our Founder, James Pang, to grow the company in its initial stage. Completing her summer program with the Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) in 2013, Jenny continues to inspire the next generation of drummers with her warm personality and cheerful nature.

With more than 16 years of drumming and teaching experience, the business graduate from Singapore Institute of Management had overseen MDS @ Lavender as Centre Manager from 2012 to 2016. Jenny’s extensive experience in Chinese music has allowed her to travel and perform throughout countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. Her most recent 3-day gig was at Stream of Grace Ge Tai 2016.

Jenny also received her Associate Diploma from Australia & New Zealand Cultural Arts (ANZCA) in 2018. She is happily married and has a lovely daughter with her husband, Francis.

Joel Seah Head of Operations

Joel Seah brings more than 16 years of drumming experience to the Drum Faculty at MDS. A self-taught drummer, he spent the bulk of his teenage years studying the instrument and honing his craft. His curiosity and passion for music eventually let him to mastering even more music instruments. He plays the bass guitar regularly and, on occasion, even the piano as well, in church.

Being involved in many bands in the past, Joel understands the difficulties and challenges in today’s musicians and is ready to impart his knowledge with his fun personality. His passion for drumming is only surpassed by his passion for teaching as he believes that learning is a life-long journey that never ends; He often mentions that he has learnt much from his students as well, “You are never too old to learn and never too young to teach!”

Joel’s “never give up” approach to learning has led him to obtain his Associate Diploma in Drums (Honors) recently in July 2016.  As one of the most popular educators here, his patient and humble nature has proven many a times to be beneficial for his students; He has guided more than 100 exam candidates through their ANZCA Drum examinations, with a good number of them scoring First Class Honors and Honors as their grades. Joel’s outstanding results are a testament to his dynamic teaching style.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from University College Dublin, Joel is the Head of Operations at MDS; taking up additional operational roles on top of his back-to-back teaching schedule. He has a beautiful daughter with his wife, Kristen.

Trevor Koh Customer Relations Manager

Back in 2011, Trevor Koh enrolled for his first drum lesson at My Drum School’s Beginner Programme under the tutelage of Mr. James Pang. His heavy 60s and 70s rock-influence led him to pick up the drums only at a late age of 22. With zero drumming experience, he worked his way from being a Part-Time Drum Educator, Drum Educator, Centre Officer, Centre Manager, and a Customer Relations Manager.

Trevor firmly believes that everyone should be given an opportunity to learn drums and experience music through the instrument itself. His students describe him as engaging, creative, and enthusiastic. Trevor also has a great bond with a handful of students with special needs and he wants to impart life values to the younger ones beyond just teaching drumming.

He recently graduated in 2017 and obtained his Associate Diploma in Drums, making him the first ‘home-grown” MDS student to graduate with an Associate Diploma. Today, Trevor is the Customer Relations Manager with his own schedule of about fifty students. He has 1 daughter with his wife, Grace.
